Practicing with a mic, and with ‘hearfones’

What are your thoughts on practicing very regularly with a mic and headphones, as that’s what we use in the studio (so maybe it's best to be really good at knowing how your voice works in that scenario)? Also have you tried practicing with 'hearfones'? They are a headband with plastic cups on the side that allow you to really hear yourself when singing, and supposedly help you to avoid oversinging. Trying to come up with a practice routine that has some days without a mic, some with... Thanks.

    Hi Jake,

I haven't personally used "hearfones" and truthfully don't use mic & headphones for regular practice. I still prefer to have one headphone on & one off when recording or performing live (with in-ear monitors). You certainly could practice with mic & headphones every now and then; I think it's valuable to have that experience!

Great tip again thanks Camille and I find my pitch is way better with the one on one off approach.

Sure thing, Jake! Yes, I think most singers would agree with you!
